Pet's Second Chance, Inc. was founded in 2000 by Linda Moore as a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, our dedication is to the many Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgis or Corgi mixes who have been abandoned by their owners due to divorce, moving, birth of children, and the many other reasons that families may no longer be able to keep their Corgi. We will accept all Corgis regardless of age or physical condition.
Sydney's family deserted her when she was six years old. When we took her she was not in the best of health. But with lots of care and love, Sydney's foster home soon had her back to health and she was a happy girl. Enter a wonderful family looking for that perfect little girl to be a therapy dog. Sydney soon earned her CGC and then went on to become a Certified Therapy Dog. And as you can see, she also has a best friend.
Given her choice between Teddy and her boyfriend, Teddy’s original owner chose the boyfriend. Silly girl! Teddy was soon adopted as a companion for another Corgi boy. Then Teddy began his agility career along with his brother CoCo. Today Teddy is a star athlete. The boy runs like the wind and deftly negotiates every obstacle. Jili - ARCH, RL1X, RL3, RN, CGC - What does it take to make a champion? Here's the story of Jili. Jili's original owner kept her tied to the front porch. After heart surgery she did not have the patience, time, or strength to take care of her and we took the little one into our rescue. We had many calls about Jili - who wouldn't want a beautiful little red-headed tri girl? But we waited - we wanted just that special person for Jili. With the assistance of our friend Katharine who did the home visits and interviews, Jili found her forever home with Nichole and Scott. A note from her mom about the weekend and all of Jili's ribbons - "This weekend Jili finished her RL3 title with an Award of Excellence, her ARCH, and RL1X with only 1 score less than 200 which was the last of the entire weekend (198 after 6 trials/day for 2 days and being sleep deprived). We're looking forward to AKC in Springfield the end of the month where she'll try out Obedience for the 1st time and continue working on her RA title." For those of you that don't know, RA is Rally Agility, and Jili is a star! We are very proud of Jili and Nichole and Jili is a success big time!
A few years ago we received a call from a rural shelter to take four young Corgis. They were turned in by a commercial breeder who was going out of business. Pippin, then named Mikie, was one of those little pups. Pippin’s luck was running high. He was adopted into a wonderful and loving family who competed in agility with their little girl Corgi Lucy. Now Pippin is a star! He is now MACH II having won his first MACH at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America Nationals. And as you see by the smile on his face, the boy loves working at agility.
Maddie came to us from a shelter in rural Missouri. She was only seven months old. Her family split up and Maddie was no longer wanted. So little Maddie went to a foster home. Her foster parents fell in love with her and there she remains today. Like her brothers Teddy and CoCo, Maddie is working hard at agility. She loves it! She thinks it is always her turn to go in the ring. When not running, she is sleeping on her dad's lap. Such a spoiled little girl!
Grits, MACH, CGC Grits was purchased at a horse show as a gift for a friend. The friend had no idea what to do with a puppy so Grits was kept crated most of the time. Then he came to us. I couldn’t let him go. Grits and I started obedience and he earned his CGC (Canine Good Citizen). Then it was on to agility. I would say, “Do you want to play on the toys?”, and he would run for the car. He loved his sport. We shared a passion for the game and we were best friends.
